Sneakerask doubles organic traffic and becomes visible in five AI engines

Sneakerask is a premium retail sneaker platform that saw a sharp drop in organic visibility in September 2025 due to errors in its internationalisation and technical foundation. After three months of targeted recovery work and GEO optimisation, growth arrived from December 2025. In the seven months after the start of the collaboration, organic traffic doubled, Sneakerask ranks in the top 3 for 1,059 commercial sneaker terms and it appears in 263 prompts across five AI engines.

ABOUT

Sneakerask

Sneakerask is a Dutch sneaker resell platform specialising in exclusive, authentic sneakers from brands such as Nike Air Jordan, Yeezy, Travis Scott, New Balance and Asics. The range consists of limited edition releases and hard-to-find models, aimed at collectors and sneaker enthusiasts. The market is competitive and dominated internationally by big players such as StockX and Goat.

THE

CHALLENGE

From September 2025, Sneakerask's organic visibility dropped sharply. The internationalisation had been set up incorrectly, which confused search engines. On top of that came duplicate content between sneakerask.nl and sneakerask.de, parameter URLs in internal links, missing breadcrumbs and filters, and non-indexed blogs. At the same time, sneaker buyers' search behaviour was changing: a growing share do their research via ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, and anyone who isn't visible there simply isn't considered.

OUR

RESEARCH & GOALS

We carried out a complete technical audit and, in parallel, set up an implementation plan for both classic SEO and Generative Engine Optimization. The work ran from July to October 2025. After that, it was a matter of trusting the foundation while Google picked up the new signals. Growth came from December and kept getting stronger.

The four main goals:

  • Fully restore the technical foundation: hreflang, canonicals, indexing, duplicate content and internal link structure.
  • Grow organic visibility into a structural traffic channel, away from the September 2025 dip.
  • Achieve top positions for the commercial sneaker terms with purchase intent behind them.
  • Build a presence in AI engine answers, so Sneakerask is also found by buyers searching via ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI.

Three months of laying the foundation, then patience. From December, growth started and kept coming. Now we're in every major AI engine.

THE

SOLUTION & IMPLEMENTATION

An approach that works for Google search and for AI engines starts from the same principle: a clean technical foundation, clear answers to concrete questions and recognisable entities.

  • Fully restored the internationalisation with correct hreflang tags and resolved the duplicate content between sneakerask.nl and sneakerask.de with the right canonicals.
  • Cleaned up the internal link structure by replacing all parameter URLs with clean URLs, and set up breadcrumbs following Home / Main category / Subcategory / Product name.
  • Added UX and conversion elements: colour filter, visual filters, price ranges on product pages and 3D renders of sneakers.
  • Improved indexing by excluding irrelevant parameter pages via robots.txt and setting filter URLs to noindex, follow.
  • Rolled out structured data across the whole site: Product, Offer, AggregateRating, Review, Breadcrumb, FAQ, BlogPosting and Organization.
  • Added FAQ sections to category and product pages with conversational Q&A content, aimed at AI search.
  • Rewrote alt texts with descriptive, intent-focused copy that is also readable for LLMs.
  • Built authority through editorial link building in the Dutch sneaker and streetwear scene.

THE

RESULTS

The combination of technical recovery, content and GEO work delivered a foundation that produced measurable growth in three dimensions. The figures below show the position as of January 2026, seven months after the start of the collaboration.

  • Organic growth: traffic doubled in seven months, from around 15,000 monthly visitors in June 2025 to around 30,000 in January 2026.
  • Rankings: Sneakerask ranks in the top 3 for 1,059 commercial sneaker terms, 2,716 in the top 10 and 4,079 in the top 20.
  • Top 3 positions for terms such as 'nike travis scott', 'tn', 'jordan low' and 'gazelle adidas'.
  • Visibility in AI engines: Sneakerask appears in 263 unique AI prompts across 22 topics, spread over Perplexity, ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews and Gemini.
  • Top topic 'Retail Sneaker Releases' with 97 mentions across all four major AI engines.
